1st part of the storm is over, whats next?

WEATHER ALERTS
A Winter Storm Warning is in effect for:
- N. Litchfield county until 6pm Thursday
A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for:
- S. Litchfield county: 12pm Thursday
- Hartford/ Tolland/ Windham counties: 6am Thursday
- N. Fairfield/ N. New Haven/ N. Middlesex/ N. New London counties until 10am Thursday.

Well today part 1/2 moved through bringing snow widespread through the state, and we received a whole lot of reports. Some reports we have received are at the bottom of this post. Part 2 of this storm, will be a big huge mess. Some sleet, freezing rain, but mostly plain old rain will be moving through. I do expect mix of snow/rain through the day tomorrow, but the chance diminishing as the day goes on. As you could see in the daycast, the percentage of chance of precip starts very high at the beginning of the day, then decreases as the storm moves out. The commute tomorrow will be a huge problem, and schools ran on early dismissal schedules today, and it was a good decision. Tomorrow, schools may close due to the widespread ice throughout the state, and the unclear roads and the timing of the exit of this storm. Which may be in the afternoon hours. Or, if the storm is out, delays may be posted due to slippery roads. Temps tomorrow will be in the low to mid 30s, and shoreline communities will be in the mid to upper 30s. Storm will move out later tomorrow, and then it will be mostly cloudy skies. Friday, looks to be mostly cloudy skies with highs in the 30s and 40s. Then for Saturday, we ware watching another storm, possible thunderstorms due to a front moving through. I will have much more info on this as we get closer to it.

Details for mid-week storm.

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for:
- Litchfield county: 12pm Thursday
- Hartford/ Tolland/ Windham counties: 6am Thursday
- N. Fairfield/ N. New Haven/ N. Middlesex/ N. New London counties until 10am Thursday.
A very nice day today, with highs landing in the upper 40s and low to mid 50s, with abundant sunshine. Tomorrow, the storm will begin to move in. Around lunch time tomorrow, we will start to see the precip move into the area. The precip will start out as snow. This will cause schools to close early, and some may get canceled. Then, later in the afternoon temps will warm up, creating a mix situation of snow and rain. Overnight, temps will be in the mid 30s, supporting mix. Some points we may see some freezing rain and sleet, which is worse than snow. Watching a high pressure in Canada to see if it will lock in the cold air for this storm. On the back side, we may see enough cold air to get some more snow on the back side. After the snow comes to an end, I think that we will see a good 2-6" for central and northern CT, the Litchfield hills may get more with 5-8", and the shoreline looks to only have a couple hours of snow, with mostly ice and mix. So I predict a coating-3". This storm will clear out Thursday night, and Friday looks to be a mostly cloudy day, but dry. Highs on Friday will be in the low to mid 30s. Then, we are watching a storm for Saturday. A cold front will develop, and before it, a great deal of warm air will be moving through, so SW wind will quickly change. I do expect some thunderstorms with this, as the cold front will meet the warm air will spark some thunderstorms.

Thanks for watching!

Some snow on the way?

A very nice day today, with highs landing in the upper 40s and low to mid 50s, with abundant sunshine. Tomorrow, will be the last day of sunshine for the rest of the week, as we will see the storm move through. Tomorrow, we will see temps in the low to mid 40s, with abundant sunshine. Then, the forecast turns unsettled. We are continuing to watch the storm system for Wed-Fri, and it looks very messy. As of the latest data, the storm seems to start Wednesday after rush hour. Which is a good thing, but still bad timing. Some schools may close early due to the timing of this storm, and some may cancel depending on what the road conditions are like. Highs will be in the low to mid 30s. The precip at this time looks to be snow, changing to rain. Thursday, is the day where we will see the most unsettle weather. We will see a mix of rain/snow, with highs going into the low to mid 30s. Throughout the day, we will watch the precip move from west to east. Then, during the back end of the storm, we will see more snow. This could close schools Thursday. I expect the back of the storm to move through late Thursday/ early Friday morning. Delays depending on road conditions are possible.

Stormy forecast ahead!

We had a very nice weekend after a messy Friday of snow and rain, some parts of the state received over 5" of snow. Then after the storm moved through, the wind came in. And it came in strong. Got many reports throughout the state of over 40mph gusts at some point during this wind event. Today we saw some very nice conditions, highs got into the 40s for a lot of the state. For tomorrow, we will see a nice little warm up for the day, with mostly sunny skies. A low pressure will move to the north of CT, which will allow some warmer air to sneak into the state for tomorrow, highs will be in the upper 40s to low to mid 50s for some of the state. Then after overnight temps drop off into the 30s/40s, Tuesday we will see mostly sunny skies once again with highs in the mid to upper 40s, some towns may get into the lower 50s. Wednesday, thats when the interesting pattern begins. We will see a mix of sun and clouds at the beginning of Wednesday, then the precip moves in. The models hint it at starting as snow, and I do agree with that. So that part won't be the pain to forecast, its how much for that time. Models also show it overnight Wednesday into Thursday morning changing to rain. Some models have this, and some models don't. This is the part that we NEED to pay attention to. Today, the models hint at showing a snowier solution, but guys tomorrow it could show all rain. You never know. Not putting a forecast, but im calling for mixing on Thursday. Then on Friday, it will begin to move out, and on the back side we will see a little bit more snow. I will have continuing updates throughout the week on this storm. Saturday looks to have another storm move through, this one a cold front, looks to be all rain with a possible snow shower/flurry on the back side.

Stay tuned for the latest info!
